The Big Guns Racing Team of Peter Burnitt, Brad Patton and Rohan Barry will be at full strength this weekend for the 7th round of the 2010 Yokohama V8 Ute Series at the Armor All Gold Coast 600.
The three Big Guns V8 Utes will be ready for action as they compete in their ‘home’ round around the streets of Surfers Paradise.
“This is our home round,” says Big Guns Team Manager Joe De Vries, “and we have a huge contingent of sponsors, family and friends turning out to support us. This is going to be massive.”
Big Guns wish to welcome Q Ford, PHW Auto Recyclers, Southside Body Works, Vehicle Wraps Australia, Apollo Smash, Customers ATM and Mal Wood Automotive. Patton will have his Wicked Energy Drinks / CHILL XR8 Falcon ready for anything as he leads the team into battle around the unforgiving and often punishing ‘concrete jungle’. “I don’t think our results at Bathurst were really an accurate reflection on how we did,” Patton explains, “you can be fast as hell all weekend and not come away with a result that looks good in the papers. That’s the way V8 Ute Racing goes sometimes.”
Burnitt has his CNW / Team Kanga XR8 Falcon dressed to impress also and is expected to be loaded with enthusiasm for an improved run after the disappointment of Bathurst two weekends ago.
A dejected Burnitt wound up in the gravel trap (most of which was swept out of the hauler at the workshop later) in “Hell Corner” – probably an appropriate name for where he ended up in the final race of the weekend.
Rohan Barry makes his Surfers Paradise debut after he opened his 2010 account at Bathurst in the Denco / One Construct XR8 Falcon.
Rohan’s first goal will be to familiarise himself with the circuit, and then second may well be to avoid an on-track coming together with his father in-law after the pair got together in spectacular fashion at Bathurst.
“We’re both moving on from that,” says Burnitt, “we’re all focused on having a good weekend on the Gold Coast and registering some good results for our sponsors, family and friends who will be there.” Ends release…
